Hello friend,
I have a stack of updates for you in this edition of FLAIR.
A new JUST Branding Podcast episode is out now, on something we have not properly tackled in seven seasons: PR (public relations).
We're joined by PR expert Nikkia Adolphe to discuss how to turn brand strategy into something people actually see, trust, and believe. Listen or watch here.
Recently, I was approached to join a BNI networking group here in Sydney. It was all very under the radar.
I shared my experience inside a few communities I'm part of, and wow… opinions were strong.
I received a stack of tips and warnings (see comments here), ranging from “RUN, it’s a cult” to “I’ve been a member for 15+ years.”
If you've ever considered joining a live IRL networking group, BNI is the world's largest and has been running for over 40 years but yes, it does have a reputation, for better or for worse. Here's my experience from the first session I attended as a visitor.
One immediate takeaway from that experience: I didn't even have business cards. I was relying on LinkedIn QR codes. Turns out you can't put them in a Rolodex (yes, they had one of them).
So I fixed that...
I printed some new ones over atMoo, complete with spot varnish on Pinky's sunglasses and a QR code to my LinkedIn profile. They should arrive later this month.
New business cards set to Stand The Flock Out
I recently shared how I landed a client via Dribbble along with some mistakes I made with the process. A good reminder of why positioning matters.
Last week, I shared commentary on the Apple vs Adobe vs Affinity creative wars. Adobe have since commissioned me to write some more in-depth articles comparing Adobe to these tools. Also a few articles on their newest AI features in Acrobat and Firefly + Express.
Inside the Brand Builders Alliance, we're now in week 5 of 8 of the Signature Offer Accelerator. Members and I have reviewed dozens of member offers, and the clarity shift has been huge and TBH it's sharpened my own process too.
Our BBA job board has been really active lately with members collaborating & hiring within the community. It pays to be in the room, quite literally.
Late last year, I took on select private mentorship clients, helping them launch their branding businesses & level up their strategic process. I may open a few more spots later this year. If you’re interested in a mentorship program, reply back and let me know.
BBA is the ultimate membership for brand builders. Get the support, guidance, and resources to master branding and grow a thriving creative business —together.
